Merced Housing Texas -- one of Texas’ leading non-profit affordable housing organizations -- has selected Alpha-Barnes Real Estate Services to take over management of four affordable housing assets in San Antonio. Merced Housing Texas and A-BRES have an ongoing relationship in which A-BRES manages two assets in Corpus Christi and one in the San Antonio area for Merced. Now, on April 1, 2009, A-BRES will be assuming management of Avion Place, Stablewood Farms, Eleanor Place and Elmhurst Place -- all in San Antonio. This will bring the portfolio managed on behalf of Merced Housing Texas to a total of seven properties totaling over 1,100 affordable housing units. Mike Clark of A-BRES says “We are very appreciative of the confidence shown in our staff by the leadership at Merced Housing Texas and we look forward to working with them on these properties and to improving our already good working relationship.”

ART BARNES INDUCTED INTO THE DFW COMMERCIAL REAL ESTATE HALL OF FAME

MIKE CLARK ELECTED TO HOUSING CREDIT CERTIFIED PROFESSIONAL BOARD OF DIRECTORS

On May 14, 2009, Mike Clark, Alpha-Barnes' Principal in charge of Property Management, was elected to the Housing Credit Certified Professional (HCCP) Board of Governors. The HCCP designation is awarded through the National Association of Homebuilders (NAHB) and the Institute for Real Estate Management (IREM) and is the predominant professional designation for property management professionals who are involved in the Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) program. In his capacity as a Governor, Mike will be working with the other Board members to help shape the continuing future of the designation and the field. Alpha-Barnes Real Estate Services presently has 10 staff members who hold the HCCP designation.
