Jeff Barnes began his real estate career in 1982 as a real estate broker with the Dallas brokerage firm of Sherwood Blount and Company. At Sherwood, Jeff was directly involved in the sale of over $50,000,000 of raw land and income-producing properties throughout Texas.

In 1985, he joined Barnes Development as Vice President, assuming responsibility for development, acquisitions, management and sales in the multi-family market.

In 1989, he was one of the principals in the formation of Dal-Mac Barnes Co. (a partnership with Barnes Development and Dal-Mac Construction Company) in which he served as President.

Dal-Mac Barnes’ main focus was commercial management operations which complimented the construction company by obtaining multi-family rehab work and management.

Jeff served as President of Dal-Mac Barnes until 1994 when The Barnes Companies was formed to concentrate on multi-family development and management. The multi-family experience lead to the formation of the partnership with Alpha Management, Alpha-Barnes real Estate Services, in April of 2000.

Jeff’s career has covered every facet of commercial real estate activity, which includes residential and commercial management, residential lot development and land planning, investment acquisition analysis, golf course and country club acquisition and management, multi-family development, and commercial leasing/brokerage. Jeff’s philosophy of business comes from his father and has become a company motto: "People do business with people, not companies. You must earn their respect and work hard every day to maintain what you have earned."

Jeff believes strongly in giving back to his community from which he has gotten so much. He and his family have chosen to become very involved within the public school district that his children attend. Jeff’s community activities include:

• Secretary and Executive Officer of the Highland Park Education Foundation
• Currently serves as President of the Highland Park Independent School District Board of Trustee
